Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Group

The Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Group is responsible for planning the political and parliamentary work of the parliamentary group and preparing full meetings of the parliamentary group. It consults on all submissions that are to be made for a decision to the full meeting of the parliamentary group, the parliamentary group's highest body. That includes, among other things, draft bills, motions and resolutions. The Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Group comprises: the two Chairs of the Parliamentary Group, the four Parliamentary Secretaries, the five Deputy Chairs of the Parliamentary Group (who also co-ordinate the parliamentary group's five working groups) and the Vice-President of the German Bundestag (who is elected following nomination by the parliamentary group). The Executive Committee meets once in every week in which the Bundestag is sitting to discuss political issues, the schedule for the coming week of sittings, and reports and initiatives by the individual working groups.

Managing Executive Committee

The Managing Executive Committee is smaller than the Executive Committee. It has six members: the two Chairs of the Parliamentary Group and the four Parliamentary Secretaries. The tasks of the Managing Executive Committee of the Parliamentary Group are to co-ordinate the political and parliamentary work of the parliamentary group and to manage the party's ongoing business and then represent it internally and externally. The Managing Executive Committee has decision-making competence over financial, personnel and organisational matters insofar as these are not a matter for the full meeting of the parliamentary group. The Managing Executive Committee meets every Monday in those weeks in which the Bundestag is sitting and, when the need arises, in weeks in which the Bundestag is not sitting.
