My political roots lie in the North-South solidarity movement. As a social scientist, I have long dealt with development cooperation in my professional life as well. Not only that, I have also worked as a journalist and am currently still co-editor of the "Weltwirtschaft & Entwicklung" (Global Economy & Development) journal published in Luxembourg, as well as of the Berlin weekly "Der Freitag". I joined the Greens in 1988 and since then have been active on various levels – as Spokesperson of the Federal Working Group on Peace and on Foreign Affairs, as a member of the Federal Executive Committee, as a member of the Executive Committee of the European Green Party, as State Party Chairperson in North-Rhine Westphalia and as a Member of the European Parliament for one legislative period. Whether it was peace and security policy, European integration or the globalisation of business and trade – foreign affairs have always formed the backdrop to my political work, and this is the area I would now like to get involved with in the Bundestag as well.
