Spokesperson on cultural policy

Commitees

  • Committee on Cultural and Media Affairs (sp. + m.)

For as long as I can remember, I have been campaigning against injustice, social exclusion and discrimination, and for ecology, environmental protection and the vision that we can be more open and more human in our dealings with each other. As a "green pianist", I have always played something of an exotic role between the worlds of music and politics. Now, I aim to help influence politics with a new way of thinking from a musician's perspective. To do justice to the complex challenges we are facing these days, we cannot simply align ourselves with male-dominated, mechanistic-cognitive competencies. We need more people with imagination and social skills! "Imagination is more important than knowledge, for knowledge is limited", said Albert Einstein. Culture should no longer be a neglected field for politicians and society as a whole. I want to campaign for more cultural education that is not trapped in outdated distinctions between mass and high culture. One of my main priorities is to work with you to improve equality of opportunity in the education system and support those who are disadvantaged by their financial circumstances or background. Not only that, we must ensure the existing disparity between women's and men's pay is finally ended and we must create conditions for more women to be promoted to management positions. As a green musician, I see my function as being that of a mouthpiece for all those working in culture, as a mediator between culture and politics. There is much to be done! I look forward to working with you with great courage and passion to implement our Green aims!
