I have been politically active in Southern Hessen for more than 30 years now and helped build up the Greens there. Having started out as a City Councillor in Darmstadt, I became a Member of the State Parliament in Hessen from 1987 to 1994. Between 1994 and 2004 I worked as Head of the Schools, Childcare Centres, Housing, Women, and Intercultural Affairs Department for Darmstadt City Council. In this capacity, I founded the Intercultural Office to promote the integration of citizens with an immigration background and, as one of the first council officers in Hessen, implemented a refurbishment programme for Darmstadt's schools. Urban development is a particularly important topic for me. During my time working for Darmstadt City Council I implemented the first living space utility concept for Darmstadt, renovated problem areas and established Germany's first ecological rent index. In this new session of the Bundestag, I would like to continue campaigning for the development and expansion of communal, intergenerational and ecological forms of living. I look forward to working together with all of you!
