When I attended my first Green meeting at the age of 14, I already knew that I wanted to work for the preservation of the environment. That was around 20 years ago, and the Greens are still my party of choice. While studying biology at university I spent over two years in the tropics, where I saw what poverty means, where children of six have to work in banana plantations under catastrophic conditions. This experience confirmed my conviction that the ideas of the Green Party are the right ones. Environmental protection and social justice must always be implemented hand in hand. The poor suffer the most from environmental damage, as recent hurricanes and other disasters have shown. After 20 years of voluntary work for environmental preservation and for increased social justice in Germany and abroad, I am now looking forward to being able to continue these activities in Berlin.
