Following a highly formative 18-month period of community service at the railway mission at Frankfurt Central Station, I joined the Greens in 1995 during my studies in Heidelberg. After my first round of state exams and my dissertation I returned to Schleswig-Holstein for my internship and second round of state exams. Since then, I have lived and worked as a lawyer in Mölln, my home town, where I am a member of the emergency legal service and also work with the NGO Transparency International to achieve greater transparency in the worlds of politics and business.

My main areas of political interest are home affairs and legal policy. I see these areas, together with internet policy, as providing important tasks for us Greens in the coming years. I am convinced that our fundamental values – liberty, justice and civil rights – have to be defended and reinforced in the digital world as well, and maybe there in particular. The fact is that any approach that focuses only on individual aspects of the changes we are seeing in ever more areas of our lives is no longer able to do justice to the immense upheaval in the wake of the digital revolution. That is why we need a comprehensive Green concept for the digital age. I look forward to helping shape this concept.
