My involvement in politics has its roots in my work to strengthen civil and human rights. I have been an active member of Amnesty International since 1985 and have dealt with national and international topics on their behalf. In 2004, I was the Amnesty observer in the Daschner trial.
The Central Office of State Administration of Justice Departments for the Investigation of National Socialist Crimes has been located in Ludwigsburg since 1958. In 1996, we founded an initiative to promote the work of this body. Here, I worked on a voluntary basis on the Executive Committee for eight years to support this organisation, the only one of its kind in Germany.
As a lawyer, it is important for me to represent people in difficult situations. One crucial political experience was a petition organised together with the Greens' State Parliamentary Group in Baden-Württemberg, which enabled us to secure residency rights for a woman from Eritrea. In my active work on behalf of the Greens, which began in 2005, I have campaigned for the introduction of sustainable structures in core political areas so as to reduce the number of special cases and exceptions to an absolute minimum. That is important not only for climate protection and social justice, but also for individual and social liberty.
