I come from a dyed in the wool conservative village in Westerwald. Already at school, it was absolutely clear to me that the "love your neighbour" doctrine the teachers taught did not fit in with the introduction of stricter asylum legislation. That triggered my entry into politics, and specifically the Green Party, in the early 1990s. In the past, I have worked on both local and state levels to provide children and young people with equal opportunities to education, integration and participation in society regardless of their origins, the type of family in which they grow up and their parents' wallets. It is these objectives that I plan to campaign for now in the Bundestag as well.
We most likely face four years of CDU/CSU/FDP government. Given the current state of the SPD and the often unrealistic ideas of the "Linke", we Greens have good chances of becoming opinion leaders within the opposition. That is our aim from the very start. I look forward to working together with my new colleagues – and I hope to receive many suggestions and new ideas from all of you!
