Spokesperson on european policy

Politics is all about joining in! I have always seen it as my task to get young people from all backgrounds involved in politics so they can campaign for their rights and the issues that concern them. I joined the Greens when I was 16 years old and quickly took on responsibility within the party. In 2000 I was elected to the managing committee of my home branch of the Greens in Hamburg-Harburg and became the branch chairman in 2001. I also engaged in voluntary work, helping to found the non-partisan organisation Jugendinitiative Politik e. V., which encourages young people to attend open-door discussion events with politicians. I was also involved in the Future Bus project, coordinating the information material for the bus that toured Hamburg schools informing children about the debate on right wing extremism and xenophobia. When I was elected to the provincial legislature of Hamburg in 2004 I was its youngest member and in this position too I continued to campaign for more youth involvement in politics in Hamburg. As spokesman on European and international affairs I campaigned for a European political outlook in Hamburg. I currently work as deputy chairman of the Hamburg branch of the Europa Union Hamburg.

Since 2002 I have been studying history, law and East European studies as I have always been fascinated by everything that happens east of the River Oder. As a member of the Greens international alternative list, I have campaigned for the Greens and oppositional groups in Russia, Tibet, Belarus and China. This has allowed me to build up excellent working relationships and friendships with my contacts in these countries. I hope this experience will prove a useful asset for my work for the Greens in the Bundestag – (Eastern) Europe is the future after all!

Something else you should also know about me is that I am a fervent FC St. Pauli fan and have a life-long season ticket.
