I have long been committed to social affairs and equality of opportunity, and I actively want to help shape society and people's living conditions for the better. What attracted me to the Greens was that they combine ecological and social political visions with hands-on policies that make a difference. As academic assistant for Employment, Social Affairs and Healthcare in the State Parliamentary Group in North-Rhine Westphalia, I was directly confronted with the social imbalance created by the "Agenda 2010" policies, ranging from the Hartz labour market reforms through to healthcare reform.

That is why I regard it as essential to learn from and correct the mistakes made and further enhance our social security system in the fields of healthcare, pensions and basic income. Our election manifesto already provided a key foundation here. Now it is a matter of fleshing out the details of individual points and working together with social welfare groups to make sure our policies attract a majority in four years' time.
